Being a publicist for the past twenty years has allowed me to do two very important things—constantly use the right side of my brain, the creative muscle that yearns for out of the box thinking, and to talk to anyone and everyone. I often wake up in the middle of the night to jot an idea down, or have a great thought come to me while I’m in the shower… I’m always thinking creatively.

That’s what makes this job so much fun, there is never a dull moment! I pride myself on what I call my APB…I have a great idea, but need another or two to make it happen, so I sent out an “ABP” to other publicists to see if they have clients who are doing what I am looking for. It has paid off more times that I can count.

My Clients are My Top Priority

There is a great sense of accomplishment I get through PR. I’m able to see my effort and work in print, whether it be in the Boston Globe or Buzz Feed or the Today Show, and the positive feedback is always reassuring.

I did a jig the first time I got a hit and I still do a little dance each time I see a client in the paper to this day. It’s just such a thrill for me. I have even saved the first press hit I ever got. It was back when I was working for a community college the year I took off between undergraduate and graduate school. It’s great to look back at this and to see how far I’ve really come.
